The Harvard Program in Global Surgery and Social Change, The International Student Surgical Network (InciSioN), and The World Medical Association are bringing together an extraordinary panel of youth leaders in global surgery from across the globe to discuss their surgical work, opportunities for collaboration and innovation, and the future of the field. We hope this event will expose UNGA attendees to the important field of global surgery and garner international support for the inspiring work being done worldwide.
Surgical, obstetric, and anesthesia care are essential in reducing morbidity and mortality at all stages of life. In order to meet the Sustainable Development Goals and achieve Universal Health Coverage, it is imperative that nations incorporate these components into their health agendas. Since global surgery has gained increasing attention with the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery in 2015, a new generation is making waves in and out of operating rooms around the world.
